Pair of St. Louis Cased Wine Glasses From The S.S. France

A pair of St. Louis French cobalt crystal cut to clear wine glasses commissioned for the S.S. France for Compagnie Générale Transatlantique (CGT). The glasses, circa 1962, feature round tapered cobalt blue bodies with clear cut outs near their bases and clear glass stems. Each glass is marked CGT to its base. The S.S. France was launched by the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique or CGT in 1962. At the time her keel was laid in 1960 she was the largest passenger ship ever built. She was sold in 1979 to Norwegian Cruise Lines and renamed the S.S. Norway. In 2006 she was sold for scrap.
