Thai Painted Papier-mâché Khon Masks
Item Details
A pair of Thai papier-mâché Khon masks of the same character. These golden face Tosakan masks present grimacing faces with curling fangs, wearing helmets stacked with additional faces, including a detachable top. The facial features are lined in red and green designs, and the helmets feature rich, textured details. There are no apparent maker’s marks.
Condition
- missing and broken embellishments; one mask is dented to top left side; wear to paint finishes.
