An oil painting on paper titled Two Small Trees by listed American artist Edgar Hatten (1929-1990), executed in 1981. This work features a landscape with trees, simplified with pigments dotted across the surface. Signed to the verso of the painted paper and inscribed to the mat verso in graphite, “Edgar Hatten signed verso, Two Small Trees, 1981.” Presented under a white mat and wrapped in acetate.

Edgar Hatten is known for his portrayals of abstract still-lifes and landscapes with a focus on expressing mood. He was born in Wyoming and lived most of his life in Los Angeles. He taught at Swinbourne College in Australia, East Los Angeles College, and Citrus College.
