A signed limited edition lithograph on paper titled A Moment in History by renowned Spanish artist Salvador Dali (1904-1989). Originally published in 1968, this work is from the artist’s series The Aliyah Suite that was created to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the founding of Israel. The composition features an image of David Ben-Gurion reading Israel’s Declaration of Indepence in 1948; he is flanked by two figures portrayed with bleeding gray splotches. The work is signed by hand in graphite to the lower right; it is numbered 56 out of an edition of 250 to the lower left. The composition is mounted on an off-white canvas surface, presented under acrylic glass with canvas matting and a gold-tone sight edge, and housed in an ornate gilt and gesso frame with acanthus leaf molding. Descriptive labels from Baterbys Art Gallery are present to the front and verso.
