Melinda Esmond Contemporary Mixed Media Sculpture "Maple"

An original contemporary mixed media sculpture with maple wood stump, plaster, acrylic, stain, and wax finish by American artist and designer Melinda Esmond (20th/21st century), titled Maple. The sculpture is comprised of a maple stump painted and stained in two tones. The crowning surface of the stump is coated with a smooth, shiny resin that fills many of the innate holes and crevices, creating an organic, primordial plane. Artist signature is burned into the wood to the side of the piece.
Esmond creates both commissions and original works inspired by her own “urban organic” aesthetic, often drawing texture and imagery from textiles used in her Interior Design career. She has exhibited at the Mojo Collection as well as other galleries in Kansas City’s reputable Crossroads Art District, and has pieces housed in permanent corporate and private collections across the nation.
