A circa 1930 vintage hardcover edition of H.G. Wells’ The History of Mr. Polly and The War in the Air in one volume. The former is a 1910 comic novel, while the second is a 1907 military novel, which hypothesized about aerial combat years before it would become a reality in the First World War. The front page edges of this volume feature a fore-edge painting of zeppelins bombing a battleship from the air. The image can only be seen when the pages are flexed. Published by Odhams Press Ltd. of London, undated, and bound in a blue leather hardcover.
