Walter Sinz Red Earthenware Clay Sculpture

A red earthenware clay sculpture of a monkey-like humanoid figure by listed artist Walter A. Sinz (American, 1881 – 1966). Inscribed with the artist’s signature by the artist’s hand to the verso of the base, along the figure’s buttocks. To the underside is fabric to prevent scratching surfaces. An artist for Cowen pottery, Sinz trained at the Cleveland School of Art. His best known work is the Thompson Trophy he designed for the National Air Races.
