1830s French Gilt Metal Mobilier Wag-on-the-Wall Clock

A 1830s French mobilier gilt metal ‘wag-on-the-wall’ clock. This beautiful weight-driven clock is designed with a gilt metal case with arched top and elaborate repousse design featuring two peacocks to the sides with an urn overflowing with grapes and flowers to the center, with foliate and floral borders. The round clock face is in white enamel with black Roman numerals and openwork hands, with a center Arabic numeral band. Below the case is an openwork lyre form with vertical twisted rods connecting to a second openwork lyre form and below, a round gilt metal pendulum cover designed in a fruit and leaf pattern with a pineapple to the center. The clock’s mechanism is driven by two cylindrical brass-encased weights. The clock is marked ‘CN’ and ‘Depose’ to the lower edge of the metal case.
