An original acrylic painting on canvas by reputed Cincinnati-based artist Gayle Gillette Hummel. The painting depicts a woman wearing a long pink dress and wide-brimmed yellow hat sitting against an abstracted blue, yellow, and white background. The buttery, glossy paint has been applied with heavy impasto directly to the canvas with a palette knife, adding a sculptural, tactile element to the piece. Artist signature is signed in-wet-paint to the lower left. The painting is mounted in a wooden frame with cast surface embellishments, gold tone finish, and a hanging wire. Hummel is a native of Terrace Park in Cincinnati, Ohio who studied fine art at both Miami University and The University of Cincinnati. Her work can be found in many galleries and private collections worldwide. Her work was also chosen by the late Princess Diana to be hung in a Children’s hospital in England.
