Mexican Revolution Themed Chessboard

A chessboard with decorative motifs inspired by the Mexican Revolution of 1910. This wooden chessboard features relief panels around the sides of the base including scenes of soldiers and horses with the word ‘Mexico’ on one side, while the board itself features the engraved image of a horse’s head on each square. This piece has no apparent maker’s marks.

Condition

- significant pieces of trim missing; bowing; one corner of board loose on base; general wear and discoloration throughout; includes only five chessmen.
