An original vintage gouache painting on paper by well-listed Mexican-American artist Jose Maria de Servin (1917 – 1983). The charming Cubist painting depicts a brightly-patterned bowl overflowing with stacked rounded fruits and crescent-shaped watermelon slices. The fruit is painted in bright, surreal colors and patterns with thick black outlines. Metallic gold paint accents the piece, adding a shimmer across the composition. The painting is signed to the upper left corner. It is presented behind glass in a composite frame with cast surface embellishments, rustic silver tone finish, and a hanging wire. Servin was a distinguished member of the ‘Young Painters of Jalisco’ and an Art Professor at the University of Arizona. He has exhibited worldwide, and was well-known for his large mural projects.
