A late 19th-century English School oil painting on canvas of a Romantic landscape. This work features a rural landscape with livestock and a farmer crossing a stone bridge over a rocky creek. A small cottage sits in the landscape surrounded by trees, overgrown foliage and hills in the background. No signature was found on the work. Some handwriting to the verso reads ‘English School’ and a descriptive label identifies the style of the painting as the English School. The painting is presented in an ornate Louis XV style gilt and gesso frame.

- craquelure throughout; faint white stain present to lower left; small spot stains scattered throughout painting, especially visible in sky and along upper edge; small spots of paint loss throughout edges of painting; wear throughout frame includes scratches, stains, small chips, and discoloration throughout; dust throughout; stains throughout canvas verso.
