Zheng Xie Chinese Qing Dynasty Bamboo Painting

A Chinese Qing dynasty (1644-1911) painting of bamboo signed Zheng Xie (鄭板橋, 1693–1765), noted as one of the ‘Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou’. This painting, rendered with ink on paper, depicts a loose depiction of bamboo, and includes a block of Chinese text, along with a red signature seal along the left side, and a seal to the lower right corner. This piece is mounted on a silk scroll with a ribbon at the top and a rod at the bottom to facilitate rolling.

Condition

- two inch cut to center of ribbon end of scroll; light creasing and staining throughout silk scroll; foxing to painted surface; wear to ribbon; wear and sticker residue to wood rod.
