Edie Harper Signed 1975 Limited Edition Serigraph "Solomon Sez"
Item Details
A signed limited edition serigraph by well-listed Cincinnati artist Edie Harper (1922 – 2010), titled Solomon Sez. The image depicts a playful interpretation of an Old Testament story in which King Solomon threatens to cut in half a baby to whom two women have claimed motherhood. The print is signed, titled, and numbered 297/750 in pencil to the lower margin; mounted under pink and black double-mat, behind acrylic glass in a metallic silver tone metal frame, equipped to hang. Original label for print is attached to the verso.
Edie Harper described herself as a “Jill of all trades trying to master one” since she had been successful in many areas of art including photography, wood sculpture, weaving, and jewelry design, as well as painting and printmaking. Her husband, well-known artist and illustrator Charley Harper, called her “the thinking man’s Bible illustrator.” Edie’s work has been exhibited at the Cincinnati Art Museum, Andover Art Museum, and the Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati, as well as many others.
