19th-Century Oil on Canvas "Portrait of a Lady"
Item Details
A 19th-century oil portrait on canvas of a woman, circa 1825. The piece depicts a woman wearing a red hat with dangling gold earrings. Her outfit is comprised of a white high collard ruffle shirt and red garment. She is rendered in a three-quarter profile. This work is unsigned by the artist, and is presented in a gilt wood frame descriptive labels to the verso; one reads ‘English School – Circa 1825 – Portrait of a Lady’.
Condition
- piece has been relined; craquelure is present throughout; under UV light sighs of in painting and restoration are present.
