Brass Medical Bookends
Item Details
A pair of medical brass bookends.The winged staff and double snakes is after the Caduceus of Mercury/Hermes, although linked to alchemy, and thought to have originated as a printers mark. This insignia was adopted by the Medical Department of the United States Army in 1902 and is found widely used in the United States. Marked ‘PM Craftsman, Florida.’
