Antique Oak Blanket Chest

Item Details

An antique blanket chest. This 1880’s blanket chest is made of varnished hardwood. It features a hinged lid and two pull out drawers at the base. The chest sits on four removable legs. There is a small hinged, storage compartment to the interior of the chest. The drawers and edges have intricate dovetail construction. Each drawer and lid has a keyhole, though no key is present. This chest is finished in a caramel finish and features antique silver toned pulls on the drawers. It is unmarked.

Condition

-the legs have been removed, but are included.
-the wood has several minor chips, cracks, and knots from age and use.
-there appear to be some new screws used in the hinges.
-the key is not included.
-there are significant markings to the interior and inner edges.
-there are moderate areas of damage near the hinged areas.
-all condition details are consistent with age.
