1906 "Plays of Maeterlinck" in Two Volumes

A pair of hardcover volumes of the Plays of Maurice Maeterlinck, translated from the French by Richard Hovey and published by Duffield & Company of New York, 1906. Maeterlinck was a great Belgian poet, essayist, and playwright who was an important member of the Symbolist movement, attempting to communicate themes indirectly through metaphor and subtext. These volumes have partially leather veneered, marbled hardcovers, and gilded top page edges.

Condition

- light cover wear and paper yellowing, but overall good considering age, solid hinges and bindings and clean interiors.
