A 1978 signed artist’s proof serigraph titled Kentucky Wildcats by well-listed sports artist LeRoy Neiman. The serigraph depicts a heated basketball game between St. Johns and the Kentucky Wildcats, with Kentucky player Jack Givens (No. 21) preparing to shoot the ball, guarded by St. John’s player No. 24, Kentucky player Mike Phillips (No. 55) assisting. Also pictures are Kentucky players Rick Robey (No. 53), Kyle Macy (No. 4) and James Lee (No. 32) The work is typical of Neiman’s brilliantly colored, impressionistically rendered pieces, with dynamism and action inherent in the quick brushstrokes and vibrant splashes of color. The work is pencil signed to the lower right margin, with A.P. to the lower left margin. The serigraph is displayed under glass in an off white mat and beautiful ornate molded wood frame. The serigraph is marked with the embossed mark of Styria Studio.
