Bronze University of Chicago Bookends After Peter Manfredi

A pair of cast bronze University of Chicago bookends after Peter Manfredi. These bookends depict the lamp of learning with an open book bearing the motto of the university, ‘Crescat Scientia; Vita Excolatur’ (Let knowledge grow from more to) and the University’s phoenix in a shield to the center on a raised base. The versos are marked ‘University of Chicago.’ Both bear the mark for the Pompeian Bronze Company of Brooklyn, New York and and have a molded signature ‘Manfredi’.
