Hand-Knotted Persian Kerman Area Rug
Item Details
A Perisan Kerman area rug. This curvilinear wool rug is hand-knotted in a palette of celadon, rose, periwinkle, and cream. It features a classic Kerman design beginning with a floral pendant medallion grounded in cream and surrounded by sprays of small flowers. The medallion rests on a celadon-colored field, which is partly filled with densely patterned small flowers, palmettes, and stylized vines rendered in cream, gold, rose, and periwinkle. Framing the field are two narrow borders, one featuring scrolling vines over rose, the other a floral motif over celadon. Selvedges are overcast. Ends finish with ivory cotton warp fringe. The rug is unmarked.
