Handwoven Nomadic Khourjeen/Saddle Bag

Item Details

A handwoven nomadic khourjeen, or saddle bag, likely Baluch or Afghani. The two mirrored pockets each feature a central Memling gul framed by a two-petal calyx border, all in deep scarlet, rust, orange and black. The top of each pocket has a small diamond form pattern in red and white, and the pockets have loops at the openings. It has a number of hand-finished tassels on each side, and the backing is a striped pattern in red, ochre and indigo. It has overcast edges, and is unmarked.
