Semi-Antique Hand-Knotted Anatolian Area Rug
Item Details
A semi-antique Anatolian area rug. This wool rug is hand-knotted in a palette of cream, powder blue, dusty pink, and navy. It begins with two large hooked diamond medallions, each grounded in pink and enclosing five rosettes. Above and below each medallion is a powder-blue rectangular box containing a central rosette made of hooked S shapes, with S motifs forming lateral borders. These elements rest on a cream-colored field containing ten florets amid the boxes and medallions. The field is framed by three borders populated with similar motifs. Selvedges are double overcast, the rug finishing at either end with unbound ivory wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
