A pair of hand thrown and handbuilt studio vases. The pieces feature unusual designs and matte glazes. There is a thin, square handbuilt vase that has a Japanese aesthetic and is marked to the underside with an incised ‘7’. It has a slightly curved base and curved top with a cut in the center. It has been glazed with iron oxide and cobalt over a groggy stoneware clay. The larger vase has a cylindrical, raised foot with a large oval and bulbous form with a crescent cut in the top. It has a muted fuchsia, honey amber and pink coloration with turquoise-colored accents. It has a mark resembling a smiling face to the underside.
