A hand-knotted Bergama wool area rug. The rug features a lattice pattern of six stepped medallions with large hooked forms and star centers in a palette of deep blue and red with powder blue accents on a cream field. Each medallion has multi-colored spandrels. The field is enclosed by a compound border that features a pattern of eight pointed star medallions in a diagonal motif with a running water band to the outside edge. It has been lightly carved along the design lines. The rug has a red and indigo kilim skirt at each end with embroidered elements for dimension. It triple overcast edges and braided warp ends with natural wool warp fringe. Unlabeled.
