Hand-Knotted Persian Karaja Carpet Runner

Item Details

A Persian hand-knotted carpet runner attributed to the Iranian region of Karaja. It features six central medallions in a variety of shapes, in rich indigo blue, green salmon, ochre and ruby against a deep indigo blue field which is heavily adorned with floral and symbolic filler motifs of leaves, floral palmettes, and vines. Enclosing the field are borders featuring stylized turtle patterns and florals. It has with overcast edges and a long cotton fringe. The rug is not marked.
