Hand-Knotted Persian Tulip Lattice Area Rug

Item Details

A hand-knotted Persian pictorial area rug, attributed to Afshar weavers. This wool rug features six medallions with stylized tulips on a black field filled in with rosettes, two large red peacock symbols occupy the field as well. The primary border offers a reciprocal trefoil design with rosettes in a palette of cochineal red, indigo blue, cadmium yellow, green, and cream. The rug is finished with double overcast selvedge edges and a natural wool warp fringe at either end.
