An original oil painting on canvas by contemporary Italian-American artist Joseph Baris (born 1939), titled Fishing on Longboat Key. The painting depicts a man standing in the sea breeze, his feet emerged in the surf, casting a line out to the blue sea on a balmy day. The painting is signed by the artist to the lower right; mounted in a contemporary wooden frame with cast surface embellishments and a gold-tone finish, equipped to hang. Baris immigrated to Cincinnati in 1956, where he studied periodically under Roland Huston and Chuck Marshall. Joseph’s work is held in private and corporate collections and he has shown in many galleries. He is also a member of the Cincinnati Art Club and the American Impressionist Society.
