Mid-Century Oil on Canvas of Woman With Yellow Dress and Blue Headband
Item Details
A circa 1940s oil painting on canvas. The piece depicts the portrait of a young woman gazing straight ahead, wearing a sheer yellow dress and a blue headband. It is signed and dated in green paint to the lower right with a signature that appears to read ‘EAW McDowell, 43’; however, no clear artist attribution could be made. The painting is presented without glass in a gold tone wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- craquelure across most of surface, especially visible to upper right; paint lift to center right side; abrasion to canvas at lower right; surface wear and stains to frame finish; tears to frame’s backing paper.
