Photogravure after a painting by Josef Israels (Dutch 1824 – 1911) titled Afternoon in a Farmhouse in Delden. The black and white print depicts a dark interior with a man and woman sitting at a table beside a baby in a wicker cradle. Seen dimly in the background is the head of a cow looking through an opening in the back wall from it’s byre. Printed to the lower right is ‘Photogravure en druk van Roeloffzen-Hubner en van Santen, Amsterdam’. The print is mounted under glass with brown and pink double mats in a narrow wood frame that is wired for hanging.
Condition
- discoloration to the print; minor wear to the frame; smudges on the glass.
