Binner Engraving Company 1896 Printing Catalog
Item Details
An original 1896 catalog produced by the Chicago’s ‘Binner Engraving Company,’ titled Eighteen Story Creations. A caption on the title page describes the catalog as ‘A collection of specimens of modern illustration and engraving- embracing the methods employed in the various departments – Done in diverse processes which include wood engraving, photo engraving, zinc etching, halftone, map and relief, line engraving.’ As this description suggests, the catalog includes a variety of black-and-white illustrations printed in various printmaking methods; sheets of glassine are mounted between each page. The catalog is currently housed in a plastic sleeve for safekeeping.
Condition
- all original illustrations are included. Light yellowing and wear across, consistent with age. Glassine pages are particularly yellowed with age.
