Vintage Cynthia Sargent Hooked Round Rug
Item Details
A hand-hooked mid-century round area rug by designer Cynthia Sargent. Sargent, an artist trained in art and design, moved from New York City to Mexico City in 1951, founding with her husband a weekly crafts bazaar and market called “Bazar Sabado” in San Angel, and also founding a manufactory where they made a variety of textiles and hooked rugs. This wool rug is rendered in a bright palette of turquoise, teal and Pacific blues, greens, cinnamon and deep ochre. It features a starburst pattern to the center, surrounded by bi-color teardrop motifs and framed by lappet forms to the edge. It has bound seams to the underside, and is not marked.
- Please note, this is an item that may be especially difficult to move and/or transport. Unless shipping arrangements are available and made by the winning bidder, that individual is advised to bring appropriate assistance, vehicle, proper materials, and any necessary tools to pickup.
