Hand-Knotted Persian Bakhtiari Area Rug

A Persian Bakhtiari tribal area rug. This wool rug is hand-knotted in an abrashed palette of burgundy, coral, pink, indigo, camel, and ivory. It features a rectilinear floral garden pattern beginning with a very large star medallion, which is composed of numerous panels containing floral imagery in phases of coral, indigo, and crimson. The medallion, which has pendants at top and bottom, rests on a rich burgundy field populated with symmetrically arranged palmettes, flowers, vines, and leaves. Spandrels are deep, edged in spiked coral and grounded in indigo, with flowers, palmettes, and vinework. Framing the field are two narrow floral borders, one grounded in ivory, the other in indigo. Selvedges are overcast, while top and bottom finish with short, ivory warp fringe. The underside reveals blue weft threads. The rug comes with a certificate of authenticity.
