John Rogers Plaster Sculpture "Checkers up at the Farm"

A circa late 19th-century sculpture in plaster after an 1875 work by listed American artist John H. Rogers (1829 – 1904). The piece, titled Checkers up at the Farm, depicts a family gathered around a wooden barrel and enjoying a lively game of checkers. The sculpture is titled in mold to the base with an additional marking of ‘John Rogers, New York’ to the front and ‘Patented December 28, 1875’ to the back. Condition

- to Poor; chipping present throughout, with significant breaks and losses present to figures’ faces, hands, feet, hair, clothing, checkerboard and base.
