Item Details
A handwoven Turkish kilim. This wool area rug is woven in a wide-ranging, variegated palette that leans toward red, orange, brown, and light blue. Its geometric field consists of rectangular panels with different ground colors, beginning with three large medallions, each seeded with diamond eyes. Motifs include double bird’s heads and stylized S shapes. Framing the field is a reciprocal sawtooth guard border. Selvedges are double overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short gray wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
