Item Details
A handwoven Turkish kilim runner. This wool rug is rendered in a wide-ranging, variegated palette leaning toward soft yellow, green, red, and azure. Its field and inner border are comprised of vertically arranged, crenelated rectangular panels, grounded in different colors. These begin with a central strip of concentric, stepped diamond medallions. Framing the center are panels containing stepped double bird’s head motifs, which in turn are enclosed in a running dog border. The outer guard border features a reciprocal medahil pattern in yellow and gray. Selvedges are triple overcast, the rug finishing at each end with ivory cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
