A vintage hand-knotted area rug by Safavieh. This wool rug is rendered in a palette of taupe, camel, and crimson. It features an Oushak-inspired design beginning with a central quatrefoil palmette medallion surrounded by arabesqued vines, oak leaves, flowers, and palmettes on a field of taupe. The field is punctuated at the edges by large, partial medallions in the shape of the central medallion. Framing the field are three borders including a wide primary border, which contains a variation of the field pattern, in the same colors. Selvedges are double overcast, indicating the rug may have been made in Turkey. The rug finishes at either end with ivory wool warp fringe. It is tagged on the reverse.
- there is a stain on the border; could benefit from professional cleaning.
