Wilson Bigaud 1960 Oil on Masonite Board of Haitian Market Scene

A mid-century oil painting on masonite board by listed Haitian artist Wilson Bigaud (1931 – 2010). The 1960 work depicts a Haitian market scene bathed in yellow sunlight, as several male figures in brimmed hats and blue jeans bring livestock and wares to market. The piece is signed and dated ‘10/60’ in brown and black paint to the lower right. The painting is presented without glass in a brown, cream and green wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso. Condition

- to Fair; scratches and abrasions throughout painting, with some paint loss to lower right and top right corners; staining present to lower right; minor wear to frame finish; slightly loose joints to frame.
