1840s Style Striped Dress

An 1840s style striped dress. This selection showcases a full skirt and a burgundy and black striped fabric, accented with stripes of red, blue, white, and green. It also features an early Victorian style tiered sleeve, trimmed with black lace and ending with cream-colored lace fabric emerging from the flared sleeve. The dress includes snap closures which may not be original to the piece. There are no visible maker’s labels.
Condition
- to poor; discoloration and staining to embroidered eyelet cuffs; snap closures may have been added; some hook closures may have been replaced or added; black lace trim is torn and frayed; seams are ripped and coming undone; loose threads; stitches and tears along waistline; moth holes on back of dress; general staining and discoloration.
