A. Graeme Mitchell Original Aquatint Etching "Swiss Nocturne"

An original signed limited edition late 19th-century aquatint etching by well-known Cincinnati physician and artist Dr. A. Graeme Mitchell (1889-1941), titled Swiss Nocturne. The image depicts European buildings and rooftops softly illuminated by moonlight. The print is numbered 3/75, titled, and signed by the artist in pencil to the lower margin; presented without frame or matting.
Mitchell was a prominent physician in Cincinnati and even served as the Children’s Hospital director at one point in his career. Mitchell was also well-known and respected as a painter and etcher, and attempted to preserve the history of Cincinnati in his work. This etching was a part of a large collection that was stock for Cincinnati’s Closson’s Gallery.
