A framed original oil painting portrait of a man. This antique painting depicts a bearded man in 18th century attire set against chiaroscuro background. The work is presented in a gilded wood and gesso frame with a hanging wire attached to the verso.
Condition
repair to verso to top left; in painting to upper left, to left of forehead, left hair, top of head, nose, to right side of vest, multiple areas throughout background; stretcher marks with cracks; canvas is buckled across top; craquelure to most of painting; dent in canvas to lower center; large chip to lower right of frame; cracks/ chips to gesso on molding
