Hand-Knotted Indo-Heriz Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Indo-Heriz area rug. This rectilinear wool rug begins with a large star medallion in cream, navy, terra cotta, muted green, and bright red. The medallion rests on a cherry red field, which is populated with symettrically arranged palmettes, foliage, flowers, and vines. Spandrels are ivory with floral details. Framing the field are four borders, including a major turtle border grounded in navy. The major border is flanked by meandering floral borders over ivory. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at either end with ivory wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
