Vintage Green Wedgwood Jasper Tableware

Item Details

A collection of Wedgwood jasper in green. The group is comprised of a pair of candlesticks, a green jug, a white jug and a footed bowl. The pieces all feature neoclassical figures in white relief on a green jasper dip body. The white jug is the exception with a white ground and green figures. This earthenware body was developed by Josiah Wedgwood the first in the eighteenth century. The decoration has been extremely popular since it’s inception and an active collector society and clubs are still in existence. The jug in white was produced for the Collector’s Society in 1981 and bears the special oval mark with a bust of Josiah the first. There are also impressed marks reading ‘Wedgwood Made in England’ on all the examples.
