Handwoven Kazak Wool Soumak

Item Details

A vintage handwoven Kazak wool soumak, designed with four indigo blue and ivory repeating Memling guls with star elements to the center of a red field. The guls are flanked with blue and white star forms on the field. It ha a compound border of barber pole, star and meander arrow forms in the field colors on an ivory field. It has a double overcast edge with twisted wool warp fringe to each end. It is unlabeled.

Condition

- one end has wear to the fringe which cuts into the design, and dye bleed is evident on the inner side of the warp fringe. Professional cleaning only is recommended when needed.
