Hand-Knotted Western Anatolian Yagçibedir Area Rug

Item Details

A semi-antique western Anatolian Yagçibedir wool area rug. It has a large hexagonal central lozenge with ram’s horn hooks to the ends. The central pattern is a floral pole medallion with stylized racemes of trefoil flower buds and symbols in shades of carnelian red on a deep indigo field. the Lozenge is framed by a lattice of stylized box flower heads in the same varied shades of red, framed by a compound border of serrated leaves, arrow form quatrefoils and geometric forms in the same palette. It has a narrow red and blue kilim skirt to each end, with overcast edges and hand-finished, plaited wool fringe to the ends. It is unlabeled.
