A Mid Century Modern Platner Lounge Chair for Knoll Furniture International, originally designed in 1966 by American architect and interior designer Warren Platner (1919-2006). The shell is molded fiberglass with a latex foam cushion and blue upholstery. Patented ‘Elasta-Seat’ seat with velcro attachments for the cushion has a Knoll Furniture sticker attached. The base is constructed of steel rods running vertically, welded to circular and horizontal framing rods presented with a nickel plated finish with clear protective lacquer. Clear plastic extrusion ring present to the bottom of the base. Matching ottoman adds comfort and style to this sleek design. The lounge chair won the American Institute of Architects International Award, 1966.
