Vintage Japanese Maru Obi Woven in Shikori Lacquered Thread

A vintage Japanese Maru Obi (formal kimono belt) lavishly woven on both sides in a vibrant Shikori red lacquered thread giving it a glossy appearance.
The sash is further embellished with gold, silver and copper metallic embroidery. The double sided formal accessory is woven in a diamond pattern with large scale embroidered florals in beige, blue, purple and pink silk. Both ends of the doubled sash are open, one end with embroidered gold characters. Formal obis were many times far more costly than the kimono itself.

Condition

The vintage Japanese textile appears to have seldom been worn.
