Driftwood Carving of a Woman

A driftwood carving of a woman’s head. This piece uses a coiled piece of driftwood to render the neck, face, and hair of a woman. While the artist polished the face and neck of the figure, the wood depicting her hair was primarily left in its natural state, allowing the porous texture of the twisting wood to give it a curling wind-blown feeling. This sculpture is mounted on a polished wood base and does not appear to have a signature.

- fair; piece is unstable on base; cracks and wear throughout; residue to verso.
