Late 19th-Century Meissen Porcelain Cupid Figurine

A late 19th-century, ca 1880, Meissen hand painted porcelain Cupid figurine. Cupid appears on a pedestal base in a relaxed contrapposto form with tree trunk support. Hanging around his shoulder is a quiver of arrows held on by a floral decorated turquoise strap. In his outstretched right hand is a carrier pigeon with white letter around its neck and in his left hand he hold the sacred heart. Delicate, poised wings adorn his back. To the underside is the Meissen crossed blue swords mark and an impression that reads, ‘H 115.’

- right hand index finger is broken off.
