Original Signed Etching of a Fountain
Item Details
An original signed vintage German etching on wove paper, signed illegibly in pencil to the lower margin. The print depicts a monochromatic image of a tall fountain, topped by a figure stabbing a large monster. Tall buildings surround the fountain in a cobbled square. Several illegible notes are written in graphite to the lower margin; one of them does read ‘Orig. Radierung,’ which is German for ‘Original Etching.’ The print is matted in brick red and presented behind glass in a wooden frame with cast surface embellishments and black and gold tone finishes. A hanging wire is attached to the verso.
Condition
- paper is slightly yellowed with age.
